Cleaning at Ursa-Chemie – Cleanliness as an essential part of our quality

At Ursa-Chemie, cleanliness and thorough cleaning are a central part of our quality and production standards. In production in particular, thorough cleaning of plant and equipment is crucial to ensuring consistently high product quality and reliably preventing cross-contamination.

That is why our cleaning process is not a one-size-fits-all approach, but is tailored to each individual product. Right from the development stage of every product enquiry, we test the solubility of the products as well as suitable cleaning methods and cleaning agents. The findings are then documented on a product-specific basis in the relevant production instructions and laid down as binding requirements.

Depending on the product and requirements, cleaning is carried out using cold or hot water, or with specially formulated cleaning agents. Depending on the properties of the product, neutral, acidic or alkaline cleaners are used. In the case of water-insoluble products, a suitable solvent is used for pre-cleaning before the actual cleaning process takes place.

Another method is boiling or steam cleaning. This process enables thorough cleaning of many areas of the plant and is used specifically for suitable applications.

In the GMP area, particularly high standards of cleanliness and hygiene apply. The cleaning water used there is also monitored. It must be colourless, odourless and pH-neutral, and must comply with the specified conductivity value. In this way, we ensure that even sensitive production areas meet the highest quality standards.

After each cleaning, the system is approved by the relevant foreman. Only then may the system be used for production again. In addition, before each new production run begins, our production staff carefully check all equipment and tools to ensure they are completely clean. This includes, amongst other things, kettles, hoses, vacuum mixing dryers, pelletising systems, as well as measuring cups, pumps, scoops and samplers.

The general cleanliness of the production areas is also very important to us. We therefore use wet vacuum cleaners to clean the floors, as these enable thorough and efficient cleaning.

With clearly defined processes, meticulous checks and our staff’s strong commitment to quality, we lay the foundations for safe, reliable and high-quality products.
