For a large-volume product, a raw material is needed which must be kept warm in order not to solidify. Due to the required quantity, the capacities of our heating chambers are not sufficient and the project “heatable outdoor storage tank” was launched. The installation of the outdoor storage tank enables an optimization of the raw material usage for the production and relieves the heat chamber capacities of UCM.
The features of the outdoor storage tank
The external tank with a fillable volume of 30,000 liters is equipped with a double jacket. The central transfer pump is WHG-compliant, designed with a double-acting mechanical seal and including monitoring of the sealing pressure system. The pump enables filling and emptying of the tank. The same tank and the pump bodies are heated with an internal coil via a hot water system.
The pipelines are consistently equipped with a double-acting electric heating cable to prevent the raw material from solidifying. In addition, they are permanently technically tight, as they are designed with TA-Luft-compliant seals. Good insulation of the piping ensures minimal heat loss.
Outdoor storage tank with environmental aspect
To prevent emissions, the tank has a gas displacement system and the exhaust air is cleaned by a scrubber system. Furthermore, the external tank is equipped with a radar level measurement system and a WHG-compliant overfill protection system.
In addition to product quality, process optimization and customer service, the environment and occupational safety are also the focus of this project.
