Staff meeting at Ursa-Chemie: Shaping the future together

Staff meeting at Ursa-Chemie: Shaping the future together

On 3 September 2026, this year’s staff meeting took place at Ursa-Chemie GmbH. In addition to the latest updates from the management, the meeting focused in particular on the topics of a culture of learning from mistakes, continuous improvement, digitalisation and collaboration.

A highlight of the programme was the talk given by Bernhard Münz, who, drawing on his own career path and numerous practical examples, provided inspiration for our day-to-day collaboration and the further development of our company.

Learning from mistakes and improving processes together

Bernhard Münz’s presentation focused on how to establish a constructive culture of learning from mistakes and how to continuously improve processes. The aim was not to blame individual people for mistakes, but to learn from them, identify the causes and work together to develop better solutions.

Progress is made where improvement is seen as a shared responsibility. This requires clear objectives, the right mindset and, above all, teamwork. Sustainable improvements can only be achieved if everyone involved pulls together and takes responsibility.

The issue of how to deal with individual shortcomings was also discussed. Clear agreements on objectives, regular feedback and discussions about the results achieved provide a transparent basis for providing targeted support for development.

The key message: Continuous improvement is a vital component in securing a company’s future.

Figures, facts and investments

The management then provided an update on the latest figures, facts and developments at Ursa-Chemie. Planned and completed investments were also outlined.

An open dialogue on economic development and strategic direction creates transparency whilst also highlighting the areas in which the company is investing in its future.

AI at Ursa-Chemie: Seizing opportunities, supporting people

Another key focus was the planned AI initiative at Ursa-Chemie. The aim is not simply to view the topic as a collection of small tools. Whilst applications such as text assistance or image generation can already provide support in day-to-day work, artificial intelligence offers far more extensive possibilities.

In order to make the most of these opportunities, ideas, questions and any concerns raised by staff will also be taken into account. To this end, plans include engaging an external consultant. Discussions and an anonymous survey will also help to identify different perspectives and needs within the company.

The vision behind this is clear: AI should help people achieve more whilst experiencing less stress. The focus is not on replacing staff. Rather, the aim is to free up time and support staff with repetitive or time-consuming tasks.

Cybersecurity: Taking responsibility together

The issue of cyber security also featured prominently at the staff meeting. In light of the rise in cybercrime, attention was drawn to the requirements of the European NIS 2 Directive and the protection of critical sectors and areas requiring special protection.

As the chemical industry is also subject to specific requirements regarding safety and resilience, this issue will become increasingly important at Ursa-Chemie. Appropriate training for staff is planned to raise awareness of potential hazards and promote the safe use of digital systems.

Changes to the works council: Thank you and welcome

Another special moment at the staff meeting was the farewell to the outgoing works council. They were warmly thanked for their commitment and hard work, and presented with a small parting gift.

At the same time, the new works council was introduced; it is embarking on its forthcoming term of office with new objectives and ideas.

To ensure greater transparency, information on the content and outcomes of works council meetings will, amongst other things, be shared via Quiply in future. Planning a summer party is also on the agenda. Suggestions from staff will be collected for this – with a specific focus on organising an event that families can also attend.

In addition, there are plans to step up awareness-raising efforts regarding the works council’s responsibilities: What is the works council responsible for? How can staff contact it? And how can they get in touch?

The works council sees itself as a link between the interests of the company and the concerns of the workforce. The aim is to reconcile the interests of both sides and to develop viable solutions together.

And there was plenty of food and drink on offer too: to round off the event, the works council brought along some homemade cake.

Thinking ahead together

The staff meeting has once again demonstrated how important open dialogue, collaborative learning and continuous development are for the future of Ursa-Chemie.

Whether it’s a culture of learning from mistakes, process improvement, new technologies, IT security or cooperation between staff, the works council and management – change is most successful when it is shaped collectively.

After all, securing the future starts with people who are prepared to think ahead together and make things better.
