At Ursa-Chemie GmbH, we rely on modern technologies to optimise the monitoring and maintenance of our photovoltaic systems. Once a month, on the first Tuesday of every month, we fly our “Dirk” drone over our PV system to take detailed pictures and recognise potential problems at an early stage. Of course, we only take pictures of our factory premises. The focus is exclusively on monitoring our new PV system.
Precision thanks to GPS-supported flight route
Our drone, a DJI Mini Pro 4, follows a precisely programmed GPS route with 10 fixed points. Dirk” stops briefly at each of these points and shoots a high-resolution photo with 48 megapixels. This procedure ensures that we obtain almost identical images from the same angles every time, which enables reliable comparability over the months.
Efficient and automatic monitoring
The entire overflight only takes around three minutes and is fully automated. After pressing the start button, the drone takes over all further steps independently. This level of automation not only saves time, but also minimises the risk of operating errors.
Advantages of the DJI Mini Pro 4
We chose the DJI Mini Pro 4 because of its compact size and low weight of just 249 grams. This is below the legal limit of 250 grams, which gives us many advantages in terms of handling and legal requirements. Despite its low weight, it offers impressive image quality and stability, which is ideal for our purposes.
Focus on sustainability and efficiency
With this method of monitoring, we not only contribute to the efficiency of our plant, but also to sustainability. Regular overflights enable us to recognise and rectify any damage or soiling at an early stage, which extends the service life of our PV modules and increases their efficiency.
At Ursa-Chemie GmbH, we focus on progress and innovation in order to make the best possible contribution to the energy transition. Stay tuned for more insights into our technology solutions and sustainable practices!
