Ursa-Chemie GmbH zieht erste Bilanz zur PV-Anlage

Sustainable energy future: Ursa-Chemie GmbH takes initial stock of the PV system

Since January 2024, the photovoltaic system at Ursa-Chemie GmbH in Montabaur has been producing climate-friendly electricity – an important milestone on our path to a more sustainable energy supply. With an installed capacity of 420 kWp, the system not only makes a tangible contribution to the energy transition, but also strengthens our economic independence.

Impressive track record – even in the first year

After the first full year of operation, it is already clear that the decision in favour of PV expansion has paid off.

Total electricity generation in 2024: around 330,000 kWh
Own consumption: around 200,000 kWh
Grid feed-in: approx. 130,000 kWh

Thanks to the high level of self-consumption, we have not only been able to significantly reduce our electricity costs, but also noticeably improve our carbon footprint. The use of self-generated electricity reduces our purchase from the public grid and thus reduces our dependence on price fluctuations on the energy market.

First figures from 2025: Promising start to the new year

The first quarter of 2025 also shows a pleasing trend – although the ‘sunny months’ are still to come:

Q1/2025:

  • Power generation: 58,723 kWh
  • Self-consumption: 39,960 kWh
  • Feed into the grid: 18,763 kWh

These figures clearly show that we are on the right track – especially as the system’s greatest potential lies in the summer. A linear extrapolation would therefore not be expedient – rather, we expect a significantly higher output in the coming months.

Looking ahead: using even more electricity yourself

Our vision goes beyond current utilisation. We are already working on targeted measures to further increase our own consumption, for example in the area of load management or through technical expansions. The aim is to utilise even more of the electricity generated directly in the company – for maximum economic efficiency and even more independence.

Our conclusion

With the photovoltaic system, Ursa-Chemie shows that sustainability and economic benefits can go hand in hand. We are convinced that industrial companies have a special responsibility – and at the same time have the opportunity to actively shape the energy transition with smart investments.
